The alleys of Fez
As a child, he would wander the alleys of Fez's medina, getting lost, amazed by the scents, flavours, and above all the meticulous gestures of the artisans in this small imperial city of Morocco.
Since then, he has kept that fascination for the treasures the medina and souks hold in secret. Rich in European and Moroccan culture, and through his travels around the world, the creator of Modern Oriental discovered that craftsmanship is rich and different in every country.
A revelation for someone who loves tradition and modernity: create the perfect mix by honouring Oriental craftsmanship while adding a modern touch for contemporary, unique and timeless designs.

05 — Zellige
Zellige what is it?
Zellige is a wall covering that appeared in Morocco, traditional to the city of Fez. It is made from clay, extracted and placed in a tile-shaped mould.
The tiles dry then undergo a first firing, before being dipped in a bath to be glazed. Our zellige is 100% handmade and represents Fassi craft, but also modernity through its different shapes and colours.
Mixing colours and shapes will bring an atypical contemporary touch to your interior or exterior. Its artisan shape lets you create a singular, authentic play of light — perfect for adding charm to contemporary décor.
